What is the process like?

Setting up a new group benefits package takes between 30-90 days to complete. We will have a few short phone consultations throughout the process. Plan renewals: 30-60 days.

First, we'll need your staff census. This is a document with the full name of each employee, their date of birth, resident zip code, eligibility status (full-time, part time or 1099), start date and salary.

Next, we will discuss your business goals and your budget to help determine which benefits might be a great fit for you and the best funding strategy for your business.

Next, Cornett Consulting will complete a 10-point assessment which helps us determine what benefits might be a great fit for you. It will take 3-5 business days to complete this process.

Lastly, we will present you with your options and you'll select your benefits. Cornett Consulting will assist you in introducing your new benefits package to your staff and will help you complete the enrollment process.

Each year we will discuss your renewal options and if necessary, we will assist with plan changes and/or disenrollment's. Plan renewals take 30-60 days. to complete.

What information is required?

To complete your benefits proposal, first, we'll need your staff census. This is a document with the full name of each employee, their date of birth, resident zip code, eligibility status (full-time, part time or 1099), start date and salary. The carrier will also require a copy of your business tax returns for the last two years.

How is my information used or shared?

As required by Federal law, your information is stored using HIPAA encrypted software which is the highest security available. Your information is NEVER shared with ANYONE without a "need to know". This means we only share your information with the carrier for which you are applying or with the "Program" for which you are applying. How much will a group health plan cost me?

To answer this question, it’s important to first understand that you may not have to pay any health insurance costs at all. That’s because not every company is required to. If you have less than 50 full-time staff members, you don’t need to offer it – but you may want to anyway. If you have 50 or more employees, however, you’ll either need to provide health insurance or pay an Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax penalty. In addition, there may be other situations that require you to offer health insurance like a union agreement. Most employers who offer coverage, are required to cover at least 50% of the employees monthly premium. Spouse and dependent contributions aren't usually required.

Health insurance costs vary widely but the average annual premiums for employer-sponsored coverage in 2022 were $7,911 for single coverage and $22,463 for family coverage. When you take into account the average contributions by workers, which were $1,327 for single coverage and $6,106 for family, that brings the average employer health insurance cost to $6,584 and $16,357 respectively.
